Have you always shied away from Yoga because you thought you weren’t very flexible?

Symposia is now opening its doors to a new environment for yoga practice: small classes, taught in a supportive, non-competitive manner, with individual attention.  Students will be gently guided through basic yoga postures, yogic breathing, meditation, and relaxation techniques.

“Note to self” – novel by Allison Nancye . Book reading and meditation  – June 4th at 7 pm

Australian author Alison Nancye, domestic violence survivor, women’s empowerment speaker, and motivational coach, will run a brief meditation for inspiration and relaxation. Her novel, Note to Self, is an adventure tale of a lonely and dissatisfied 39-year-old Sydney resident who travels through South America after a chain of events. She finds a new job and relationship there, mostly through learning to have the courage to follow her dreams.

Nancye followed her own heart when at 33, she decided to search for a father she’d never met. After locating and building a relationship with him, she invited him to her wedding…where he reconnected with her mother, and the two married years ago and currently watch Nancye’s children while she’s on tour.

She’s a motivational speaker, extremely outgoing, and dedicated to helping people, especially women, overcome obstacles and get their lives together. She’s planning to speak at women’s shelters and nonprofits while she’s here in the US as well.

Hoboken’s First Ethical Business Summit – How to make money & make the world a better place at the same time –  June 18th at 7 pm

Hosted by ethical business pioneer John Bredin, author of The Ethical Sales Agent, and founder of the Ethical Business Society, this historic meeting welcomes evolved, socially responsible business leaders from all fields to brainstorm a more humane and sustainable approach to capitalism.  For too long a selfish, predatory, anti-community approach to business has held sway in American society.  Best symbolized by the infamous line “Greed is good, “ spoken by actor Michael Douglas’s character Gordon Gekko in the 1987 film Wall Street, the idea that profits ought to be the only goal of business—notwithstanding the harm some of their actions might inflict on people or the natural environment—has proven to be a colossal failure not only for human beings, but, as the worsening global warming crisis reminds us, for all life on our beautiful planet earth.   Keeping in mind such emerging, groundbreaking progressive business concepts as the new “triple p” bottom-line (people, planet, profits) join us for a hopeful discussion as we re-imagine a more kind, caring and humane way of doing business “not as usual.”

PUPPETONIA is starting a new class for babies (5 weeks to crawling)

You will learn baby yoga techniques that will help with your infant’s sleep cycles, digestion and fussiness. Silly songs, toys, puppets, hugs, kisses and giggles make this a not to be missed class experience for you and your infant.

Gentle baby asanas and massages are also incorporated to help you learn how to calm and teach basic motor development to your baby. You will learn appropriate, therapeutic strokes for each area of the body, as well as ways to bring body awareness to your baby, without overstimulation.

Yoga practiced with your baby is a powerful way to connect with your new child and opportunity to join or create a community of new mothers and friends with similar goals and parenting styles.
