SYMPOSIA Community Bookstore Events – August 2022
510 Washington St, Hoboken NJ

Reading is a form of prayer, a guided meditation that briefly makes us believe we’re someone else, disrupting the delusion that we’re permanent and at the center of the universe. Suddenly (we’re saved!) other people are real again, and we’re fond of them. —George Saunders
“Untitled Unmastered”- Painting Exhibit by Fiona Popescu – Sunday Aug. 7th 4 to 6 pm

American Mahjong Club – Wednesday, August 24th at 6.30pm
Mahjong is a tile-based, rummy-style game that was developed in the 19th century in China. It is commonly played with four players, but could also be played with 2 or 3 players. Players attempt to form sets of matching sequenced tiles. The goal of the game is to reach certain combinations of tiles, by either matching numbers or suited numerically sequential tiles.
Mahjong is a game of skill, strategy, and luck. If you are feeling up for a friendly challenge, please do join our Mahjong Club that will meet twice a month at Symposia Bookstore.
From September onwards it will take place on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month.
Our September dates are:
Wednesday, September 7th at 6.30pm
Wednesday, September 21st at 6.30pm
There will be a $5 fee that goes to Symposia Bookstore for the use of their venue and this entitles you to a free book from their shelves.
It is a BYOB event. Adults only.
We will limit the amount of people to 12 due to space and see if we are able to fit another table in. So, if you reserve a spot, please be kind to let me know beforehand if you are unable to attend so that I can give your seat to someone else.
