Open Mic Night – Tuesday, July 9th 7:30 to 10 pm

Join us for a virtual getaway at our themed open mic night!  This time, we’re all about Vacation Vibes. Whether you’re belting out beach tunes or sharing your travel stories, come and share your talents in a relaxed and tropical atmosphere. Pack your creativity and join us for a night of fun and relaxation!

NEW EVENT! Relating Games Night – Wednesdays, 7:00-9:00 p.m.

Drawing from communication practices of the relational arts, participants take part in games and exercises to develop greater emotional intelligence and capacity to be more present in the moment to interpersonal dynamics.

Relating games can enable participants to form deeper, more authentic connections with others, increase spontaneity and flow in interpersonal interactions, and feel a greater sense of community and belonging.

This weekly group involves sitting and sharing verbally and also experiential games and exercises, including bodily movement and action, with some verbal introduction or orient participants.

The relational arts include practices such as Authentic Relating, Circling, Council Practice, Nonviolent Communication, and other communication practices. Here are some links with further info:

Facilitator and Hoboken resident Pete Benedict has been a practitioner of the relational arts for 10 years, including as a communication consultant and coach. He has decades of personal and professional experience in the field of personal growth, human potential, and holistic studies, having worked at the New York Open Center for many years.

“Philosophize This” – Conversation Based on Stephen West’ s Podcast – Tuesday July 23rd at 7 pm

This deeply engaging series introduces listeners to thinkers and ideas upon which our society is based, but in a way that is easy for non-philosophers to digest and understand.

Our discussion group will create a safe environment where we can gain knowledge while also sharing personal experiences as they relate to the topics presented in the podcast.

Listening to the podcast episodes on JJ Rousseau (45, 46, 47) and Adam Smith (48, 49)  is strongly recommended if possible.

Location this time: on Hoboken waterfront at Pier C. In case of rain, we will meet at Symposia .

“Symposi-HA!” Comedy Show – Friday July 26th at 8 pm

Come see our Bookstore’s live Stand-Up Comedy Show!

The show is produced by Hoboken comedian Matt Pena and will feature comedians from all over New Jersey and New York.

Tickets are $10 and all proceeds will go towards supporting the store as well as supporting the performers!

La Leche – New Moms Support Group– Friday, June 28th 10 am to 12 pm.

Come join us for this support group where you can share and learn from other moms.

La Leche league is an international volunteer run support group open to all families interested in lactating or providing human milk to their babies.

La Leche League was founded over 60 years ago when the founders (a small group of mothers) found that families were most successful when supported by their peers and it has continued with the premises of providing non bias support to local families.
