$5 Yoga Class – Every Wednesday at 7 pm
Have you always shied away from Yoga because you thought you weren’t very flexible?
Symposia is now opening its doors to a new environment for yoga practice: small classes, taught in a supportive, non-competitive manner, with individual attention. Students will be gently guided through basic yoga postures, yogic breathing, meditation, and relaxation techniques.
After the class, feel free to linger, have a cup of tea, chat. Refreshments will be served.

“Confessions of Joan the Tall”– Book Signing – April 9 at 7 pm
Poet, Psychologist, and Publisher of CavanKerry Press Ltd., Joan Cusack Handler will be reading from and signing copies of her widely acclaimed memoir.
Written in the voice of her twelve year old self, Confessions recounts one year in the life of Joan—a funny, tender, smart, vulnerable, religious Irish Catholic girl raised in the Bronx in the 1950s. Joan’s issues are the same as those most of us who survived adolescence have experienced including bullying, body image and boy/girl problems, sibling rivalries and a struggle for independence. Joan’s religious background adds others to the mix—the fear of having to be a nun, a constant battle to be good.
In the words of Roland Merullo, author of Breakfast with Buddha, Lunch with Buddha and The Talk-Funny Girl, Confessions of Joan the Tall is a truly remarkable book. It captures both the complex emotions of an adolescent in an ethnic working class neighborhood and the unwritten social and spiritual rules of 1950s American Catholicism. Somehow, though told in the voice of a young girl, the story has about it a psychological and emotional subtly that is fully mature. It’s impossible not to like Joan, impossible not to feel for her in her coming of age struggles….It’s a book that can be enjoyed by anyone between the ages of ten and one hundred-Catholics and non-Catholics alike—a real literary achievement that I both enjoyed and admired. I wanted it to go on and on.

PUPPETONIA – Puppet Shows for Babies and Toddlers
Since its inception, Puppetonia has taught children so much more than just their ABC’s and 123′s. The music and puppet shows incorporate important social skills, early academics, thinking skills, motor skills, and self-expression.
The music is fun and upbeat, and the children are encouraged to move to the rhythm, follow verbal instructions, practice sequential movements, and have a great time. And there are bubbles galore!

Puppet Yoga for Babies – Every Wednesday at 12:30-1:30 beginning April 10th
PUPPETONIA is starting a new class for babies (5 weeks to crawling)
You will learn baby yoga techniques that will help with your infant’s sleep cycles, digestion and fussiness. Silly songs, toys, puppets, hugs, kisses and giggles make this a not to be missed class experience for you and your infant.
Gentle baby asanas and massages are also incorporated to help you learn how to calm and teach basic motor development to your baby. You will learn appropriate, therapeutic strokes for each area of the body, as well as ways to bring body awareness to your baby, without overstimulation.
Yoga practiced with your baby is a powerful way to connect with your new child and opportunity to join or create a community of new mothers and friends with similar goals and parenting styles.
Class taught by Carmen Rusu, Yoga Alliance and Karma Kids certified teacher.

COMMUNITY PRENATAL YOGA – Every Wednesday at 12:30-1:30 beginning April 10th
Come experience the benefits of prenatal yoga for your mind, body and spirit. You will learn asanas appropriate and therapeutic for your changing body as well as breathing and meditation techniques to calm you during this incredibly complex time in your life! The class will have an emphasis on teaching you techniques that you can use on your own throughout your pregnancy and labor and delivery. This class will also serve as a community-building space where you can connect with other women sharing a similar journey. After your little one is born, continue your practice with Baby Puppetonia at 1:30 on Wednesdays!
Class is taught by Kimberleigh Weiss-Lewit, MA, RYT registered yoga and certified prenatal instructor. Kimberleigh is also a mother of three and peer Breastfeeding counselor in Hoboken.
