American Mahjong Club – Wednesday, Oct. 5th and 19th 6.30pm to 9.30 pm
Mahjong is a game of skill, strategy, and luck. If you are feeling up for a friendly challenge, please do join our Mahjong Club that will meet twice a month at Symposia Bookstore.
From September onwards it will take place on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month.
Our September dates are:
Wednesday, September 7th at 6.30pm
Wednesday, September 21st at 6.30pm
There will be a $5 fee that goes to Symposia Bookstore for the use of their venue and this entitles you to a free book from their shelves.
It is a BYOB event. Adults only.
We will limit the amount of people to 12 due to space and see if we are able to fit another table in. So, if you reserve a spot, please be kind to let me know beforehand if you are unable to attend so that I can give your seat to someone else.

Hoboken Hookers and Knitters – Thursday Oct. 13th 6 to 9 pm
If you love knitting or crochet, come join us for a relaxing evening. Bring your own project or come and learn how to knit or crochet, there is always someone who is willing to show others the ropes.

$5 donation to Symposia Bookstore for the use of their space which will entitle you to a free book from their bookshelves.

Hoboken Book Club – Mondays Oct. 10th and 17th 6.30pm -8.30 pm
We host the Hoboken Book Club at Symposia Bookstore. We meet twice a month to discuss the same book at both of these meetings. Members of the book club choose which of the 2 dates suit them best to attend. We limit the number of attendees to 12 people per meeting, to make sure that everyone gets a fair chance to contribute to the discussion.
Our October 2022 book is ‘Florence Adler Swims Forever’ by Rachel Beanland
There is a $5 fee payable to Symposia Bookstore for the use of their venue and it entitles you to one free book from their bookshelves.

Open Mic Night – Tuesday, Oct. 11th 7:30 to 10pm

Singers, songwriters, comedians, poets, and contortionists: Come one, come all…..share your talent with the community. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never performed outside your shower or if you are a trained professional.
This inclusive, encouraging environment is the perfect place to practice what you’ve been working on at home. Original material and covers are welcome (songs, poems, readings, comedy).
Not sure if you’re ready for the stage, no problem. Come be part of the audience and applaud others as they take the stage.
The event is open to all ages, therefore we ask that all material be clean and family-friendly.

“Roasted, Chopped &Beaten” by Chef Vincent Tropepe – Thursday Oct. 27th 7 to 9 pm
Award winning chef and hospitality industry advocate, Vincent Tropepe is happy to be making an appearance at Symposia Bookstore for his third published work titled ROASTED, CHOPPED &BEATEN: When Cities Declare War On The Restaurants That Feed Them.
Besides his many culinary degrees and nationally recognized industry certifications, Chef Tropepe also as a Judicial Doctrine in Hospitality Law. In the past, when food service establishments would fail inspections, they would call upon the expertise of Chef Tropepe to get down to the truth. Chef Tropepe represented hundreds of food service establishments and cross examined many city and state inspectors and investigators in open court and without fail Tropepe took command of each trial to expose a system filled with people who need to justify their jobs rather than protect the dining public.
Chef Tropepe gives a never seen before look into inspections and the court system in this intriguing work.
