Alive in the Sunshine: Reading & Signing w/ Nancy Colasurdo – Feb. 2nd at 7 pm

Join local author Nancy Colasurdo for a reading and book signing as she shares her memoir. It’s particularly special because Symposia is a backdrop for some of the events she chronicles.

Alive in the Sunshine is the story of a 40-something woman’s journey from established professional to active seeker. It is a call to simplify and awaken, to live more authentically, and to find meaning and beauty in our everyday lives.

Nancy’s memoir, covering a decade of self-reflection and change, begins with the staggering effects of 9/11 and her subsequent layoff as a television producer. Her well-ordered life falls apart completely as she struggles to find her way, continually questioning and seeking a life beyond that of the conventional Italian-American Jersey girl she was raised to be. She finds a new profession in life coaching, divorces the Catholic Church in the wake of the priest scandal, and seeks love, often with devastating results.

It will be a lighthearted, meaningful, celebratory evening. Please join us for light refreshments and community.

Millennial Real Talk – Book Reading/signing with Lisa Marie Latino- Monday, Feb. 13, at 7 pm

Grab your single friends and join us for a night of food, fun, and laughs as local author Lisa Marie Latino reads selections from her debut novel, Ten Years Later, which was recently dubbed “a beacon of hope for the quarter-life crisis crowd.”

You will meet Carla D’Agostino, who is not your typical heroine. Stuck in a seemingly dead-end job, single, and still living with her overbearing parents, Carla is thrown for a loop when she realizes her ten-year high school reunion is fast approaching. True love, a career as a sports radio talk show host, the perfect body–every dream remains frustratingly out of reach no matter how Carla strives and schemes. Out of reach, that is, until unexpected events lead her right back to where she started, and Carla discovers that all she ever wanted was right in front of her the whole time. Ten Years Later is a witty, unpredictable tale of one ordinary young woman’s race for the top as she throws caution to the wind and decides to go for her dreams.

Refreshments will be served.
