Wanderlust Mandalas – Photography by Michaela Potter June, 2006 |
|
Location: | Symposia Bookstore 510 Washington St. Hoboken, NJ 07030 Map and Directions |
Information: | Mandalas, an ancient word for circle, represent wholeness and have been used for millennia in cultures worldwide as a took for self expression, spiritual transformation and personal growth. Wanderlust Mandalas are digital images created with photos from my world travels. Each mandala represents the emotional and spiritual essence I experienced on my various trips and invite the viewer to have their own contemplative experience of my journeys.
A portion of the proceeds from Wanderlust Mandalas will go towards art supplies for the non-profit organization – Peru’s Challenge. I will be volunteering with Peru’s Challenge this summer, helping to create opportunities for the children in the Cusco area. Although the region of Cusco is one of the most popular tourist areas in South America, the economic benefits fail to reach the rural communities, of which 75% live in poverty. All images are printed on Fuji Crystal Archive paper. 20″x20″ images are framed with museum-style glass. The exhibition is open from May 1 to June 29 |
