Location: Symposia Bookstore
510 Washington St.
Hoboken, NJ 07030
Map and Directions
Information:  Bishop Spongs new book The Sins of Scripture continues his tradition of provoking us to think about our faith. Love God with your mind is a part of the first commandment which is what this book challenges us to do. The Sins of Scripture exposes the terrible texts of the Bible that have been used to denigrate and persecute people while carrying with them the imposed and applied authority that they were the Word of God. These texts have been used to justify homophobia, anti-Semitism, degrading women, corporal punishment, and environmental degradation. For a lively discussion and an introduction to a new way to engage this holy book of the Judeo-Christian tradition please join us.

Conversation facilitated by:
Reverend Geoffrey B. Curtiss, Rector

The Hoboken Digital Film Society Presents:
Under the Bed by Tim Lightell

Time: Saturday, June 11, 8:00 PM
Location: Symposia Bookstore
510 Washington St.
Hoboken, NJ 07030
Map and Directions
Information: DIRECTOR TIM LIGHTELL & CAST MEMBERS WILL ATTEND

Under the Bed is an experimental narrative about a young man and his new roommate, who believes he is from the future. Mixing horror, comedy, and sci-fi, the movie paints an unsettling picture of masculinity and identity.

UNDER THE BED is a prime example of why The Hoboken Digital Film Society was organized: A low-budget digital production that builds on a unique story and excellent performances by the cast. Shot over two weeks, mainly in the filmmaker’s apartment, this movie captures the independent spirit of a Cassavettes film.

In the director’s own words… it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea… but if you enjoyed Little Shots of Happiness, this one is right up your alley.

The Hoboken Digital Film Society is dedicated to bringing the best new independent films to a wider audience. It is our mission to promote and support independent filmmakers, to develop a nationwide network of alternative screening venues, and to expose audiences to a broader choice of films.
