Magic at the Library
On Saturday June 6th, popular performer John Carlson will entertain families with his unique blend of magic and humor. The program will take place on the 2nd floor at
2 p.m. No registration required. All ages welcome.
Favorite Poems
On June 9th, at 6:30 PM, in the third floor activity room, the library will host an evening of favorite poems. Bring in a poem to read and discuss with other poetry lovers.
Botanical Paper Class
On June 11 at 3:00 PM, artist, Jamie Rosswill will hold a class on making art out of recycled objects. Participants will create their own original handmade paper using environmentally safe materials. Please call 201-420-2347 to register.
Book Discussion
On June 23rd, at 6:00, join us for a discussion of The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison.
The novel is one of Morrison’s most touching and thought provoking works. Join us for a good book and great discussion!
Financial Education Program

Far From Heaven – Film Showing
On June 25th at 2:00pm we will show Far From Heaven, in honor of Gay Pride Month.
In 1950s Connecticut, a housewife faces a marital crisis and mounting racial tensions in the outside world. Director Todd Haynes is known for producing seminal films in the queer cinema genre and presents these issues with clarity and depth. Light refreshments will be served.
The Quanta Swing
On June 25 at 6:00 the library will feature veteran Broadway actress and musician Rosemary Loar performing fun musical arrangements and jazz standards.

| Information: | Aldous Huxley said that every man’s memory is his private literature. This literature may include the big events we all share and the small events only we could notice: the moments which made us happy or sad; the loves, the friendships and dreams, and, the hiding places and the rainstorms that we thought would never end. Consisting of games, exercises and discussion, “The Memory Workshop” is designed to encourage each participants ability to remember and share his or her own private literature-for the sake of joy and gratitude and to create new and lasting memories for the chapters yet to be written.
The Memory Workshop will be facilitated by Andrew Lerner, Ph.D. Dr. Lerner has worked as a school psychologist, therapist, consultant and has taught courses in Cognition and Learning Theory. He is presently working on a book about long-term memory. The Memory Workshop will take place at the Symposia Bookstore Wednesday June 3rd at 7:15. This workshop is free with the curtosy of a $5 donation to Symposia appreciated. |
