Information: In recent years, many Americans have become increasingly aware of the threat posed by global warming, realizing that emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases raise global temperatures and create widespread ecological disruption, increasingly severe storm cycles, and a host of other threats to human health and the environment. With 5% of the world’s population, the US emits 24% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions. New Jersey alone is responsible for approximately 1% of the entire world’s emissions. An Inconvenient Truth features former Vice President Al Gore, who has advocated for action on global warming since the early 1990’s and stories of Gore’s life figure prominently in the film.

Those attending the film will receive information on how they can take action to reduce their own emissions of greenhouse gases through energy conservation, the use of renewable energy, and advocacy.

Information: Why We Fight is a documentary film directed by Eugene Jarecki that won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival. The documentary was first released on January 17, 2006, exactly 45 years after Dwight D. Eisenhower’s farewell address. An unflinching look at the anatomy of the American war machine, weaving unforgettable personal stories with commentary by a “who’s who” of military and beltway insiders. The film surveys the scorched landscape of a half-century’s military adventures, asking how and telling why a nation of, by, and for the people has become the savings-and-loan of a system whose survival depends on a state of constant war.
